In Singapore’s perpetual summer, the days often feel warm and muggy. A mix of sweat and perspiration seems to create a permanent sheen on your face, and the last thing you want is a heavy, cakey foundation to top it all off. Here, try one of these new, lightweight foundations instead.

Shu Uemura Skin:FIT Cosmetic Water Foundation ($68, inclusive of sponge)
Boasting skincare ingredients like pomegranate extract to counter the first signs of ageing, and mint extract to cool the skin, this lightweight foundation applies on sheer, but is buildable to medium coverage. This is made oil-free, and can be buffed onto skin smoothly to even out skin tone. The sponge also comes with two sides that can be used to create a natural, bare-faced look. Available at all Shu Uemura stores.
Sothys Glowing Hydrating Foundation ($89)
Pick this if you’re after sheer coverage with a luminous finish. It has antioxidant botanical extracts to calm and hydrate the skin for up to eight hours, and radiance-boosting micro-particles to give skin a healthy glow. The light and creamy texture can be easily blended into skin with fingers or a foundation brush. Available at all Sothys dealers.
Ettusais Aqua Foundation ($28)
Made to be extra hydrating, 65 per cent of this lightweight foundation is made out of skincare ingredients like Tuscany spring water and organic chamomile and rosemary extracts. The light finish feels just like second skin and doesn’t leave a sticky finish. It also offers some UV protection with a SPF20/PA++ rating. Available at Ettusais counters from August 2015.
