This new salon treatment at Chez Vous “plumps up” damaged hair, similar to how Botox works on the skin. Best of all, results last up to 90 days! By Zarelda Marie Goh

Rebonding, bleaching, perming – I’ve been there, done that when it comes to chemical treatments. These days, I’m a little kinder to my crowning glory, and I don’t put it through these damaging processes as often. However, my hair is still thick, coarse and frizzy. It is also prone to breakage so I have to be extra careful when combing out knots.
When I heard about the Hair Botox + Fillers Programme at Chez Vous hair salon, I was game to try it out because it promised sleeker, shinier and softer hair for up to 90 days. As the name suggests, the treatment works somewhat like Botox and hyaluronic fillers as nourishing ingredients are used to fill up the “holes” in the hair cuticles, resulting in fuller, healthier hair. No doubt, this hair therapy is less invasive as there are no injections involved. This is what happened:

When I arrived at the salon, I was led to a semi-private seat, away from the main salon. Magazines had already been laid out, and there was iPad and a charging dock available for me to use. The space felt comfortable and welcoming.
The treatment started off with a hair wash. The head massage that accompanied it was pleasant and relaxing. Then, there were various steps taken to infuse my hair with micronised salon-grade ingredients.
The steps explained briefly: A blend of potent actives, including keratin, was applied to my hair in sections. A hooded hair dryer was then used to allow the actives to penetrate further. After this, my tresses were saturated with hydrating and repairing emollients, including jojoba and avocado oils, and these were sealed in with a flat iron. Next came a lightweight hair masque chock-full of hyaluronic acid and ceramide to further hydrate and soften. Lastly, a finishing serum was smoothened on.
I was given a disposable face mask to wear. It was a thoughtful touch, but the products used weren’t that pungent compared to other hair treatments I’ve tried in the past, so I found the mask unnecessary.
The entire process took a little less than three hours. It’ll probably take closer to two hours for someone with shorter and finer hair.

Despite the layers of ingredients, my hair felt light and bouncy at the end of the treatment. It was visibly sleeker, shinier and softer, as promised.
I was told that the aftercare was crucial in ensuring that the results last. This entailed using the set of Chez Vous Trilogy Bespoke Boosters (3 x 50ml jars) containing customised salon-grade ingredients. The booster had to be applied on damp, freshly washed hair every three days or so before using conditioner or a mask.

This extra step took some getting used to as the booster needed to be massaged in slowly and then left on for 10 to 15 minutes. Extra shower time had to be factored in. That said, I have been using the boosters properly over the past three weeks and I’m happy to share that my hair is still straight and smooth but not flat.
The price for the Hair + Botox Fillers programme starts at $599. It includes one Hair Botox + Fillers Therapy, one specially-prescribed home haircare set (shampoo, intense daily treatment and leave-in treatment), one Chez Vous Trilogy Express Revitalizing Supreme in-salon hair treatment, and one Chez Vous Trilogy Bespoke Booster Set.
