For your pre-boarding ritual, get stretching and find your calm at this yoga and meditation space in the Cathay Pacific The Pier Business Class lounge.
Everyone loves a holiday, but airports? Not so much. Air travel can often be a stressful affair with strict schedules to adhere to, and going through the motions of security checks. Airport anxiety is a real thing. Then comes the plane ride, another physically and mentally draining journey. For stressed-out travellers in Hong Kong International Airport who have access to Cathay Pacific’s The Pier Business Class Lounge, you can now escape to The Sanctuary by Pure Yoga. Designed in partnership with Pure Yoga, the 700 sqft space is divided into two zones: The Body Sanctuary for yoga practice and The Mind Sanctuary for meditation.
Whether you’ve got a two-hour transit or just 15 minutes prior to your flight, this oasis is worth checking out to relieve stress and get into zen mode before heading to the boarding gates. A good reason to reach the airport early too!
Get into your downward dog at The Body Sanctuary
Pick a secluded spot at The Body Sanctuary for your self-practice or get into your warrior stance and flow alongside guided videos led by Pure Yoga teachers.
If all you want to do is get a good stretch to prepare your body for the flight, look towards the seated stretching exercises that are meant for improving circulation and enhancing joint mobility. Complete with illustrated instructions, you’ll learn to stretch different parts of your body whilst seated, perfect for replicating on your flight later on.
Calm your nerves at The Mind Sanctuary
Over at The Mind Sanctuary, you can choose between two types of meditation – audio and gazing, both of which help to build focus and centre your mind. For audio meditation, cushioned pods are equipped with noise-cancelling headphones and iPads stored with guided meditation sessions that are narrated by Pure Yoga teachers. Comfy cushions overlooking graphics placed on walls are also available to facilitate gazing meditation, also known as Trataka yoga.
The few minutes of meditation will help quieten your mind, beat pre-flight anxieties and have you leaving rejuvenated and, possibly, as a happier airplane seatmate.
The Sanctuary by Pure Yoga is open to travellers who have access to Cathay Pacific The Pier Business Class Lounge at Hong Kong International Airport, as well as Diamond, Gold and Silver Marco Polo Club members. Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon First and Business Class passengers will also be able to enjoy the new offering.
