Set a new personal record with this training plan that will knock minutes off your 5km race time.
It’s not surprising that a 5K is one of the most popular race distances out there, given how accessible it is for beginner runners. This includes fitness lovers like myself, who don’t run regularly but prefer to lead an active life filled with time-efficient HIIT workouts and a variety of exercise classes.
Anything above 10km is far too intimidating and we might not be ready to leave the comfort zone of 5km runs just yet. But that doesn’t mean we can’t put our limits to the test.
For the upcoming Shape Run on August 25, 2019, I have decided to challenge myself to finish my 5km run in 30 minutes or less. This means shaving five to ten minutes off last year’s race time.
To make that goal a reality, I sought professional help from Andrew, head coach of SStar.Fitness, for a smart and realistic training plan to follow in the lead up to Shape Run 2019.
Watch the video below as I share the specifics of my four-week training programme that anyone with a similar goal can glean tips from.
