After gaining 30kg from her first pregnancy, Kareen Lai decided to start a programme for mums to regain their strength and fitness safely after childbirth.
Exactly a decade ago, Kareen Lai gained a massive 30kg when she was pregnant with her twins. Through the process of getting back to her fit and active self, she realised she wanted to help other mums lead active lifestyles again and not lose themselves during motherhood.
Kareen became very interested in postpartum recovery and fitness – something that was lacking back then – and eventually left her full-time teaching job to start Mums In Sync in 2013.
Mums In Sync runs fitness and nutrition programmes to help postnatal mums heal safely and strongly, so that they can regain their confidence and strength. She also authored a book 18 Again – Bringing Out the Sexy Fit Mummy in You.
On top of being a qualified trainer for pre- and postnatal women, Kareen is an educator at FIT Singapore where she teaches the pre- and postnatal certification courses to help other trainers learn how to design training programmes for mums safely.
Recently, she gave birth to her third kid – and is on track to get her fitness back. Again.
“After helping mums over the past few years, I’ve come full circle with my third child – which was a surprise! This time I am armed with much more experience and knowledge, and I have a strong support network, so the journey no doubt tiring, is a lot more fulfilling!”
