The newly opened Decathlon Singapore Lab is set to disrupt the fitness scene here with high-tech features, product experience zones, health assessments, free workouts and more.
The huge 5,000sqm Decathlon Singapore Lab at Kallang opened its doors on Jan 19, and it’s a fitness retail store like no other. Open 24 hours, the store is designed to “disrupt” fitness retail and connect sports lovers with a whole load of innovative features and new concepts. The rationale behind it all: good health and fitness should be accessible to everyone at low to no cost!
Here are the reasons you should pay Decathlon Singapore Lab a visit today.

1. The free workouts
Right outside the store, three outdoor courts (for basketball, football and free play) are available for use anytime in the day. Whether you fancy a game at midnight or want to kick your morning off with a 3-on-3, you know just where to go. Plus, on weekends, Decathlon Singapore Lab holds hourly classes and sports clinics from 10am to 7pm – you can find all kinds from zumba and boxercise to yoga and badminton. Spots are expected to fill up fast so register early on the website.
2. You know exactly what you are getting
Lace up those running shoes you’re eyeing and do a quick jog on the in-store track; test out your hiking shoes on the multi-terrain ramp; or even give those arrows and darts a shot at the target sports section before you decide on your purchase. The various product experience zones allow you to truly try before you buy.
Also, right outside the fitting rooms, a full-length mirror doubles up as an interactive product information hub. Simply scan any product – each item has a unique RFID tag – and its information and customer reviews will appear on the screen.
And if by any chance you regret your purchase for any reason, you can bring the product back to the store for a no-questions-asked exchange or refund.
3. No more long cashier lines
There are 13 self-checkout counters in Decathlon Singapore Lab so you can scan your pickings, pack and go. Later this year, the store is looking to launch a scan-and-purchase mobile app so you can buy as your browse!
If you prefer to shop from the comfort of your bedroom though, the store offers a two-hour delivery service for your purchases on Decathlon.sg. It’s supported by a sophisticated conveyor belt system that lets staff efficiently move your chosen products to the packing station. Alternatively, you can collect your order in person, also within two hours of purchase.
4. The free health and fitness assessment tests
Get an update on your body composition (blood pressure, muscle mass and body fat), discover your VO2 max (maximum rate of oxygen consumption during exercise) and put your agility to the test of the store’s Active Health Lab. Friendly staff are on hand to facilitate these tests and make recommendations for improving your health and fitness.
5. The price point
And of course, who doesn’t love getting decent-quality sporting equipment, apparel and accessories at pocket-friendly prices? Think $3.90 for a resistance band, $15 for running tights, $4.90 for a jump rope, $8 for a basic backpack – the deals are unbeatable. The family-owned business has managed to keep prices low by keeping their designs simple (but super functional) and shying away from costly advertising and celebrity ambassadors. Now, excuse us while we go fill up our carts.
Decathlon Singapore Lab is located at 230 Stadium Boulevard – it’s just a five-minute walk from Mountbatten MRT (exit B).
