Disclaimer: I’m not a fan of dance cardio.
I wouldn’t go as far to say that I have two left feet, but coordination is not my forte. I enjoy dancing freestyle, but choreographed stuff is too stressful.
From past experience, I spend way too much time thinking about executing the moves precisely. Dance cardio classes are not my first choice if I want to get a sweat sesh in.
My mindset changed after I got a chance to meet – or rather dance with – The Fitness Marshall.
The Fitness Marshall aka Caleb Marshall is a US-based YouTube star (he has over 900,000 subscribers and counting!) who created his own brand of dance videos. His fun workouts are suitable for everyone, regardless of fitness level or dance experience. (Check out his channel here.)
He held his first dance cardio concert in Singapore on May 27, 2017, thanks to Zalora Singapore and Cotton On Body.
Shape designer Lana and I caught up with Caleb after the concert, and he showed us just how accessible his dance videos are by teaching us a short routine to the song Cake by Flo Rida & 99 Percent.
I found the moves easy-to-follow (I wasn’t stressed at all!). Plus, he has super cute names for them, like “eat your cake, throw it on your face, rub it on your body”!
Watch the video to see how our mini “dance lesson” went!
