Normally, we don’t get carried away with sportswear launches, which are dime a dozen since athletic-and-leisure wear – aptly known as “athleisure” – are the in thing.
But when the sportswear involves Beyonce, the queen of pop with over 67 million followers on Instagram, it’s a different story altogether.
The bootylicious superstar just released sports clothing line Ivy Park, causing online mayhem as several shopping websites crashed within hours of the launch.
Even though the mention of Beyonce-anything can account for the surge in web traffic, we have a feeling that the Ivy Park sportswear line – a collaboration between Beyonce and Topshop’s Sir Philip Green – is on to something.
The workout clothes mostly come in neutral colours like white, grey and black, which go well with prints and bold colours. On top of that, they stand out for thoughtful design and good-quality material.

One of our faves has to be the Ivy Park Cross Back Crop Top. Made from quick-drying stretch-jersey, this medium-support sports bra gives a bit more coverage than the usual, as it cuts off just above the waist line. So you could rock the crop top trend by wearing this sports bra on its own. Plus, it has a nice inverted-V trim at the band that accentuates curves and lets you move freely. The fashionable cross-back straps are a welcome change from the full-length cross back or racerback.

If you find it a chore to match sports bras with tops, then you’ll definitely dig this Ivy Park V Back Mesh Insert Vest. The slim-fitting top with cross back straps has a built-in bra for light boob support – suitable for low-impact workouts like yoga and pilates. A mesh insert at the back speeds up sweat evaporation.

We all need a pair of basic workout shorts like the Ivy Park Elastic Waistband Woven Runner Shorts. These shorts are super lightweight and sweat-wicking. And they’re designed with curved sides to allow freedom of movement – especially handy when you’re doing explosive exercises like burpees and box jumps. The internal briefs are made with soft, stretchy mesh to keep things dry down there.
The best part about these Ivy Park clothes? They are reasonably priced. A sports bra costs $36.90 upwards, while full-length leggings can be found at $56.90. Thanks Beyonce, for giving us a reason to shop and embrace this athleisure trend.
