The new adidas Statement Collection and training shoes were put to the test with an innovative multi-intensity workout.
The new adidas Statement Collection is a crowd pleaser in the aesthetics department – strong hues of red and black, floral camo and geometric prints inspired by Stella McCartney are a sure way to turn heads before, during and after your workout.
But beyond how it looks, the collection makes a practical promise; all 23 high-performance pieces will let you breeze through any kind of workout, from sunrise yoga to happy hour HIIT, resistance training and everything else in between.
To let users put it to the test, adidas collaborated with functional fitness gym F45 to create an hour-long strength, cardio, and flexibility workout. Dubbed “Three Ways to Create”, the women’s only fitness event took place in Dancevault’s studio, which was fitted with projection mapping technology. Colours and shapes transformed according to the intensity of the workout, taking all 155 participants through moments of zen and powerful sessions of sweat. The workout was led by Michelle Sng, a high jump gold medallist at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games and pilates instructors Eugena Bey and Betsy Chen.
Decked out in the Statement Collection, women who participated in the sessions through the day gave a unanimous thumbs up to the workout and the gear. Here, three standouts withstood the demanding movements.
Don’t Rest Bra ($60)
Offering medium support, the Don’t Rest Bra eased us through jump squats, light jogging, star jumps and high knees. It was lightweight, soft and smooth; and the racerback and fitted brand provided ample support without being too tight. The bra stayed put during forward bends and side stretches as well.
The adidas Statement Collection offers support for all sizes. For lighter workouts, try the black All Me Bra ($60) and if you have a bigger bust, go for the Don’t Rest Bra ($60), which is meant to support up to a C cup.
Believe This Tights ($90)
Non-compression, smooth and seamless, these second-skin leggings didn’t slip or slide through mountain climbers, weighted squats and forward lunges. This polyester pair was also soft enough for yoga and allowed for a full range of motion without bunching. These tights also come in plain black and black camo.
Edgebounce Training Shoes ($140)
These sneakers are soft and lightweight while being supportive. The wider forefoot and heel platform provided comfort and soft landings during high-intensity jumps. These are also available in orange, grey and black.
