Wait, this is yoga?
So yoga is quiet, slow and meditative? No longer. In gyms and yoga studios all over the world, roundhouse kicks, shoulder shimmies and aerobics steps have found their way into yoga classes – or rather what is known as hybrid yoga. And many yoga teachers are recognising that there are merits to these fusion sessions. “Modern types of yoga are usually better suited for our modern lifestyles, and tend to address specific gaps or issues that did not exist when earlier practices were created,” says Franck Bessoles, yoga teacher at Pure Yoga.
