Dr Joint Pain with Celadrin®: Your Running Companion
As you are preparing for the upcoming Shape 2009 run, you would most likely be doing more running to chalk up mileage to get your body fit for the distance you will be doing on the day itself.
As you increase your training load or run more regularly, there will be more
stress on your leg joints. To help reduce stiffness and prevent running injuries,
you need to increase the lubrication and cell membrane fluidity in your joints,
and the range of motion of your joints.
While doing the necessary stretches and warm-ups are the expected things to do,
the latest scientific research shows that a new joint remedy, Dr Joint Pain with
Celadrin®, can greatly improve the running experience of its users.
A recent placebo-controlled study from the University of Connecticut, USA, published
in the prestigious Journal of Rheumatology, found that when 40 patients applied the
topical cream to both knees twice a day for 30 days, every individual experienced
reduced inflammation and greater range of motion - without experiencing any side effects.
Lead researcher & professor of medicine Dr William J. Kraemer, PhD, believes that
the key ingredient, cetylated fatty acid,( in Celadrin®) "works by lubricating cell
membranes and increasing the cushioning in bones and joints, making them younger
and more elastic."
Interestingly, Dr Joint Pain with Celadrin® topical cream can also be applied to
muscles to reduce soreness. The International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS)
has selected Celadrin® as its first and only official joint and muscle topical cream.
As such, here are some useful, practical tips to help reduce injury and make running enjoyable:
- Apply about 2 grams or 2.5cm of Dr Joint Pain on the joint areas at least half an hour before exercise.
- Do the necessary warm-up exercises before exercising, and the necessary cool-down exercises after exercising
- To prevent soreness of joints and muscles, apply the same amount of Dr Joint Pain on to the targeted areas after exercise.
- As final word of caution, do not run if you have an injury as that could worsen the condition. If the injury or pain persists, consult your sports medicine physician or doctor.
In Singapore, the topical cream Celadrin® is sold under the brand name of Dr.JointPain™ and is available in all Unity, Living Pharmacy, Bee's brand, 7-Eleven Stores and Shell Petrol Stations islandwide.
