CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL PARTICIPANTS ON COMPLETING THE SHAPE RUN!

20 July 2008
8,000 women runners packed the business district this morning for Singapore's favourite women-only run -- Shape Run 2008.
At 7.30am, Guest-of-Honour of the event, Ms Grace Fu, Senior Minister of State for National Development and Education, flagged off the Shape Run - a 5km and 10km challenge. She also joined the 5km run after the flag off. The route began at the Esplanade and took runners down Shenton Way before the 10km participants continued on into Marina South, and returned to finish the race at Connaught Drive.
Suzy Walsham, 34, won the 10km category for the second year in a row, with a time of 35 minutes: 18 seconds. She received a cash prize of $1,000 and over $20,000 worth of products. The 5km winner is Cheong Tsui Ying, 35, who clocked in 19 minutes: 43 seconds. She received $500 cash and $10,000 worth of products. These two champions will also be sponsored to run in Shape Thailand in November 08.
The winning team of the new Corporate category is SAFSA (Singapore Armed Forces Sports Association) which consists of Loh Yeoh Ling, Tan Chui Chin, Tan Lee Kiaw, Poh Li San and Lee Yem Choo. They walked away with $1,000 cash and $23,500 worth of products.
Participants ended their run at the Padang where they were treated to exciting stage performances, sports massages, drinks and refreshments, as well as opportunities to sample various merchandise. All runners received a fabulous Runner's Kit each. Certificates with personal timings will be mailed to them.
The Shape Run 2008 is organised by SPH Magazines Pte Ltd, in conjunction with the 4th anniversary of SHAPE, the complete mind & body guide for women. We thank all participants for supporting us with an overwhelming response: all of the 8,000 spaces were snapped up within 9 days of registration opening on 26 April 08. We look forward to an even bigger and better run with you next year!
