Is it time to replace your gear?
No matter how much you treasure your favourite racket or first mountain bike, all sports equipment has a shelf life. Here’s a look:
Swimming goggles: 6 to 8 months, if you use them 6 times a month
Signs it’s time to toss: The lenses are too foggy to see; the rubber seal loses its suction and water starts to seep in.
How to make it last longer: Do not use anything to wipe the lens as this will remove the anti-fog coating. “Buy an anti-fog solution from sports shops and apply it to the inner lenses before you swim,” says David Lim, a full-time swimming coach from Yellowwfish.
