Burn up the dance floor
Dancing isn’t something that only the nimble-footed can do. In fact, dancing for fitness – movements that sizzle up both the dance floor and your calories, as well as build strength and stamina – is a great way to get your workout in. Here’s a dance trend to get you out of the treadmill and into the studios:
Hip-hop
Things were kept simple in the class as the warm-ups also featured some of the dance moves. For instance, simple squats evolved into knee “popping”, where your knees jerked outwards or inwards, as if opening and closing a door (always keep your knees bent to prevent injury!). The choreography was easy to follow and fun, with interesting moves like the “slalom” (zig-zagging with your feet moving backwards) and we were able to complete a sequence of moves effortlessly. Each set of choreography is built upon progressively for three weeks before a new set is introduced.
Body benefits: Jumps, squats and sleek slalom moves will keep those legs toned and strong.
