In order to get the most out of your workout, you’ll definitely want good support from the right sports bra. Whether you’re doing burpees or headed for a run, your boobs tend to bounce up-and-down and side-to-side during exercise. Without proper support, you may experience breast pain and sagging. What’s shocking then, is how few women actually wear the right sports bras for their needs.
“Bump into any girl on the street and she’s likely wearing the wrong bra size,” says Paula Svobada, a Triumph fit expert. Big words, but true ones. Paula has helped over 50,000 women find their correct bra size in the last 15 years and strongly recommends that every girl gets fitted by an expert. Bra sizing differs from brand to brand, and you shouldn’t approach them with a ‘one size fits all’ mentality.
Paula shares her tips on what to look out for when choosing the right sports bra below.
1. Your sports bra shouldn’t be riding up the back when you move around – that means it’s too big for you.
2. The shoulder straps should be secure. If they slip off, the sports bra is too loose around the diaphragm.
3. Every part of your boob should be properly encased in the sports bra – if your girls are spilling out from the side or the top, the cup size is too small.
4. If you get back or neck pain after wearing a sports bra, it’s an indication that it isn’t the right size. Your boobs are actually very heavy and need to be properly supported.
