Get a taste of Middle Eastern goodness
Spice up your spice rack with some Lebanese and Middle Eastern flavourings.

Saffron
Health property: Aids in the digestion of food
Good for: Besides using to cook dishes, it can also be infused in tea for a subtle aroma and flavour.
Sumac (made from dried and ground berries)
Health property: A vitamin-C powerhouse.
Good for: Ground sumac imparts a tangy flavour to dishes and can be sprinkled over salads or as part of a spice rub or marinades for meats.
Tahini (ground sesame seed paste)
Health property: Soothes sore throat and stomach troubles
Good for: A common ingredient in hummus and a base for many different sauces, tahini can also replace peanut butter as a spread for bread.

Zaatar (a mixture of spices used as a condiment in Middle Eastern cooking)
Health property: Rich in antioxidants and aids in the digestion of food
Good for: Often used as a seasoning. It can also be used as a dip for bread alongside olive oil.
